Chosen by Over 70 Airports Worldwide: Yutong Airport Buses Connect Every Leg of the Journey
Global airport passenger traffic reached 9.8 billion in 2025. Behind that figure, the short transfer before boarding tests an airport’s operational efficiency and shapes passengers’ first impressions of their journey. Yutong’s AB14E electric airport shuttle bus combines pure electric drive with an airport-specific design, enabling faster departures, greater passenger stability, and a quieter ride for fully loaded journeys—bringing the benefits of electrification to every airport transfer.

Efficient Transport, Comfortable Travel
With a maximum passenger capacity of 114, the AB14E can accommodate high passenger volumes during peak hours. Equipped with three sets of pneumatic double-leaf swing-out doors on each side, the vehicle facilitates rapid boarding and alighting to improve transfer efficiency and vehicle turnover. The bus can kneel on either side, lowering the boarding side to reduce the step height. Fold-out ramps at the first passenger door on each side, together with onboard wheelchair restraints, improve accessibility for wheelchair users and make boarding and alighting easier for passengers with luggage. The doors are equipped with ant-pinch protection and a safety interlock system that prevents the vehicle from moving unless all doors are fully closed, providing additional safety during frequent boarding and alighting.

Comfort is a priority throughout every transfer. The AB14E features ECAS electronically controlled air suspension for a smoother ride, while its all-electric drivetrain reduces noise and vibration, improving overall NVH performance. Even amid the noise of a busy airport, the cabin remains quiet, allowing passengers to talk and relax without disruption. Quick response from a standstill and smooth power delivery suit frequent stop-and-go airport operations and help standing passengers maintain their balance. Efficient electric air conditioning keeps passengers comfortable in hot weather.

Low Energy Consumption, Reliable Fleet Availability
Airport buses operate frequently between terminals and the airport apron, making it essential to minimize downtime for charging and maintenance while reducing energy consumption. Powered by a pure electric system, the AB14E produces zero tailpipe emissions during operation. Its high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motor maintains an energy conversion efficiency of over 90% across wide speed and load ranges, helping reduce operational energy consumption. Since entering service at Curaçao Airport in March 2025, Yutong electric airport buses have recorded an average energy consumption of 1.93 kWh/km, providing real-world data to support airports in evaluating electric fleet operations.

To meet varying range requirements, the AB14E offers four battery capacity configurations ranging from 176 kWh to 352 kWh and supports dual-gun fast charging at up to 600 A to shorten recharge times. The battery system utilizes liquid cooling and heating technology for enhanced climate adaptability. Its 5-in-1 integrated controller reduces high-voltage connection points by 59%, lowering the risk of failure. while multiple safety mechanisms, including motor status monitoring, fault alarms, and torque deviation detection, work together to support system safety.
From vehicle delivery to long-term operations, Yutong leverages its in-house new-energy R&D and industrial capabilities and global service network to provide technical support, spare parts, and training, helping airports transition to greener operations and more efficient ground transfers.
